Some calendar programs need the calendar URL of the calfeed – and sometimes you simply want to do it yourself. Here is how to get it:
Copy the calendar URL
- Open the calfeed on calovo and click “Subscribe”.
- Choose “More formats” and then “URL”.
- Click “Accept & show link” – this confirms the terms of use. The address then appears along with the “Copy link” button.
Then paste the URL into your calendar program: iPhone/iPad, Google Calendar, Mac, or Outlook.
webcal:// or https:// – what is the difference?
The link you copy here starts with http:// and works everywhere – you can paste it directly. Only if you have a webcal:// address from another source, replace webcal:// at the start with https://; the rest of the address stays the same.
The difference: webcal:// tells your calendar program to subscribe to the calendar instead of loading it once. Apple devices understand it directly, while Google Calendar and some others expect a normal web address.
Important: subscription instead of file import
Always use the URL with your calendar's subscription feature (“From URL”, “Subscribe from web”, “Add Subscription Calendar”). If you download and import the ICS file instead, you only get a snapshot without future updates.
